The Office of Human Resources handles the preliminary review for employment and sends suitable applicants to the various departments for selection interviews. Although the final responsibility for hiring rests with the departments, all applicants for non-faculty positions must go through screening by the Office of Human Resources.
Hiring Officials may discuss an applicant’s salary expectations during the interview process. They may also discuss the University’s fringe benefits. However, specific salary rates and offers of employment will only be issued to an applicant by the Office of Human Resources.
The employment application is an important phase of the hiring procedure and becomes a part of the employee's permanent record. All information submitted on the application form is subject to verification. A formal pre-employment background check, which may include a credit check, is required for specific positions. The university reserves the right of dismissal upon finding an omission, misrepresentation, or falsification of fact on the employee's application or upon discovery of unfavorable information as a result of investigation.
Employment applications can be found at the Office of Human Resources as well as online at http://www.fit.edu/hr/.
