Study Abroad Netherlands

Study in the "Silicon Valley of Europe"

The Study Abroad Communication and Culture program based in the Netherlands is so much more than just one country. Visit Iceland, Belgium and Germany, experiencing different cultures and earning COM credit! The program is open to all majors. Students of communication, engineering, and science learn how intricately connected the fields are, and the necessity of understanding business in a global context.

Spend four weeks on the Melbourne campus taking one or two study abroad classes, then spend two weeks abroad, taking what you’ve learned in the classroom and experiencing it through these different cultures. The program is offered every two years. Plan now to go in 2020!

Students are based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, known as Silicon Valley of Europe, and the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), a world leader in technology and industrial design. Eindhoven was elected in 2011 as the “Smartest Region in the World,” recognized for its contributions to open innovation, green technology, and thriving technological industries.

The study abroad features corporate visits to organizations where students hear from corporate executives about the companies’ communication strategies as they relate to course content. Past corporate visits have included the orthopedic/prosthetic manufacturer Össur’s headquarters in Iceland, and in the Netherlands, copier specialist Canon/Océ, digital transformation company Atos, and the technology hub, Brainport.
