HOCO LipSync at Gleason Performing Arts Center

Time: 8:00 PM

Watch the student organizations competing in the Royalty Competition perform on stage in the ultimate Lip Sync Battle! Each team will perform its routine and the judges will determine who comes out as the 2023 victors. The 2022 Lip Sync champions were Pi Kappa Alpha and It’s On Us. Can they win it again or will another organization take the microphone trophy?

Mark Hertling

ROTC Guest Speaker: Lieutenant General (Retired) Mark Hertling

Lieutenant General (Retired) Mark Hertling is a national security and military analyst for CNN. Hertling served for 38 years in the US Army, retiring in 2013 as the Commanding General of the US Army Europe and Seventh Army. He then served as a Senior VP at the Leadership Institute of Advent Health and authored the book Growing Physician Leaders. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration from Rollins College.

Homecoming 5K Run/Walk On-Campus

Join us for a 5K race through campus! Get your awesome Florida Tech t-shirt, goody bag, and enjoy a post-race party with beer provided by Broken Barrel Tavern and refreshments provided by Campus Dining. 

T-shirt size is not guaranteed if registering after February 20th but we will try our best to fulfill all requests

Winners of all age divisions will receive a special Panther Pride medal!

Online registration has CLOSED. You may still register on Wednesday, March 22nd from 10 am - 6:30 pm at Running Zone. You may also register on race day from 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm at the race site.

Panther Vice: HOCO Casino Night in the Clemente Center

Date: Thursday, March 23, 2023

Time: 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Put on your finest outfits and play casino games like blackjack, poker, roulette, and craps to try and win as much as you can!  In addition to the casino, enjoy the mocktail bar, photo booth, and other exciting Panther pride activities. The night will conclude with an auction for a variety of incredible prizes.

The Florida Tech Alumni Association and Student Government Association, in partnership with Deuterman Productions, present a night you won't forget, featuring street vendors, food, drinks, family activities, and of course... an AMAZING CONCERT.

Homecoming Lecture Series: Capt. Winston Scott at Gleason Performing Arts Center

Capt. Winston E. Scott is a retired U.S. Navy Captain and aviator. He entered Naval Aviation Officers Candidate School in 1973. He completed flight training and was designated a naval aviator in 1974. In 1980, Scott earned his Master of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering with Avionics. During his Navy career, Captain Scott served as a helicopter pilot with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Warfare Squadron Light Thirty-Three at NAS North Island, CA, flying the SH-2F helicopter. He later served a tour of duty as a fighter pilot with Fighter Squadron Eighty-Four at NAS Oceana, Virginia, flying the F-14 Tomcat fighter/interceptor. He subsequently served as a production test pilot and engineering director at the Naval Aviation Depot at NAS Jacksonville, FL. Additionally, Scott served as a research development test and evaluation (RDTE) pilot and Deputy Director of the Tactical Aircraft
Systems Department at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Warminster, PA.
 
As an RDTE pilot, Scott flew the F-14 Tomcat, the F/A-18 Hornet, and the A-7 Corsair aircraft. He has accumulated more than 7,000 hours of flight time in more than 25 different aircraft and over 200 shipboard landings. Captain Scott was an associate instructor of electrical engineering at Florida A&M University and Florida Community College at Jacksonville.

Captain Scott was selected to become an astronaut by NASA in 1992. Serving as a mission specialist, he flew two space shuttle missions during which he logged over 24 days in space, including three spacewalks totaling over 19 hours.

He has advised elected officials on matters related to space and aeronautics. Recently retired, Capt. Scott is a professor emeritus at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL. He holds the (retired) rank of professor of aeronautics in the College of Aeronautics and professor of music in the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts.

Capt. Scott belongs to the boards of directors of several corporate and non-profit organizations. He enjoys an active public appearance schedule.

Captain Scott’s book Reflections from Earth Orbit was published in 2005.
