Dr. Meredith Carroll '03 M.S. is a Professor of Aviation Human Factors, and Founder and Director of the Advancing Technology-interaction and Learning in Aviation Systems (ATLAS) Lab at Florida Institute of Technology’s College of Aeronautics. She has over 20 years of experience studying human/team performance and training in complex systems.

Her research focuses on decision-making in complex systems, cognition and learning, human-autonomy teaming, performance assessment, and adaptive training. She has been funded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) to study different facets of these areas.

She also worked at the Kennedy Space Center conducting user-centered design of International Space Station payloads, processing facilities, and ground support equipment.

She teaches a range of human factors courses to give students practical, hands-on experience in applying theories of cognition and learning to optimize performance in various situations from aviation to defense.

She received her B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia, her M.S. in Aviation Science from Florida Institute of Technology, and her Ph.D. in Applied Experimental Psychology and Human Factors from the University of Central Florida.

Dana Washington joined Florida Tech Army ROTC as the Human Resource Assistant in April 2014.

She began her career in 1989 in the U. S. Army as a Personnel Management Specialist. While in the Army, she was stationed in Friedberg, Germany, and deployed to Desert Storm/Shield.  She was also stationed at Ft. Sill, OK, and Ft. Bragg, NC (currently known as Ft. Liberty). 

While in service, she was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.

After 10 years of service and receiving her honorable discharge, she held several positions in the civilian human resources sector until 2004, when she became a Department of the Army Civilian employee working as the Human Resource Assistant for the Army ROTC program at Florida Southern College (FSC). 

While working at FSC, she received her BA in Human Resources Management.

As a Department of the Army Civilian employee, she has received an award for 25 years of service as well as four Achievement Medals for Civilian Service. 

Isabela Perdomo is an undergraduate at Florida Tech, pursuing dual degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Engineering. She's also the President of the Biomedical Engineering Society at Florida Tech where she orchestrates various club activities and fundraisers.

Alongside her club leadership role, Isabela is deeply immersed in research, specializing in 3D bioprinting and biomanufacturing. She leads the­ bioprinting group, training new graduate and undergraduate students and using a range of bioprinters to generate complex cell-filled constructs for space and Earth-based applications. Her expertise has contributed to publications at national conferences, showcasing her dedication to advancing biomedical engineering.

Isabela is one­ busy student when she's not in class. She works on her projects which incorporate various concepts and skills such as API and front-end web development, data encryption and digital signal processing, and embedded systems. Additionally, she researched, engineered, and developed an eco-friendly marine antifouling system using Bessel-Function-inspired, complex, ultrasonic waveforms. She has been granted two utility patents for this work. These inventions will reduce the use of harmful “bottom paint” on marine Vessels or any other submerged objects while achieving the required and desired anti-fouling results.

She traveled to and starred in an Emmy Award Winning Documentary about Antarctica/Climate Change, Eco-Hero Antarctica: Expedition to the Bottom of the Earth. In addition to the professional footage shot by the Local 10 News Station, Isabela also took personal photos and video which she then shared with elementary students via 3D headsets during STEAM events at local schools throughout South Florida.

For all her environmental awareness efforts, encouragement of young women, overcoming adversity, and perseverance despite a heinous assault, Isabela received a Proclamation from the City of Miami Beach, her hometown officially making April 24th “Isabela Perdomo Day”. Isabela feels fortunate to have had her experiences and hopes that she can inspire other girls/women who may have reservations about embarking on STEM careers.

Christie Lynes '18 M.P.A., a seasoned business owner and community leader boasts over two decades of experience in both military and civilian realms. Renowned for her adeptness in orchestrating special events, she has extensively volunteered with school-aged children, military families, Rotary and non-profit organizations.

In her professional realm, Christie has excelled as a Market Leader at Best Version Media, an award-winning national leader in publications and digital advertising. Her expertise in talent acquisition, coaching, and community engagement ranks her among the nation's premier Market Leaders. As the Publisher at Best Version Media and Owner of Beachside Connections, LLC, Christie has significantly contributed to the Space Coast community by launching esteemed publications: Indialantic Neighbors and Beachside Living magazines. Her mission is clear: to unite communities by celebrating their unique qualities and contributing to their vitality.

Passionate about women's empowerment, Christie served as the Co-Host & Co-Event Chair for Wine Women & Shoes in both 2023 and 2024, with proceeds benefiting weVENTURE Women's Business Center at Florida Tech. Additionally, she founded the Melbourne Women Rock Networking Group, a free platform bringing together 1,300 women from diverse industries for monthly in-person meetings, drawing forty to fifty attendees. Christie was a Middle School History Teacher and Volunteer Coordinator.

A LEAD Brevard Class 2023 graduate and Rotarian, Christie remains committed to community service, actively participating in various organizations, serving on boards, and holding leadership positions, including Board of Director for The Greater Palm Bay Chamber.

Her academic achievements include a Master of Public Administration from Florida Institute of Technology and bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Education Social Studies and History from the State University of New York at Cortland.

Christie's contributions have garnered numerous awards, including Sole Proprietor of the Year 2022 by The Greater Palm Bay Chamber, Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow plus 3, Ambassador of the Quarter by The Melbourne Regional Chamber in both 2022 and 2023, Department of the Army Commander’s Award for Public Service and Shield of Sparta Heroine of the Infantry.

In her free time, Christie cherishes family moments with her husband Justin, and their teenage boys, Spencer and Treven. A passionate traveler, she immerses her family in different cultures, yet finds joy in watching her boys play Varsity sports at West Shore.
