Renowned Faculty—Small Classes—Personalized Attention

Florida Tech offers a close-knit academic environment. Students can work closely with their professors and get to know fellow students especially with our small class sizes. Each student is assigned to a faculty adviser who serves as a mentor, assists with selecting courses, and offers guidance for career and/or graduate school opportunities. Qualified students are also encouraged to participate in faculty-led research, with some working in the Scott Center for Autism Treatment on campus.

Faculty members represent various disciplines within the field of psychology. Many graduate faculty members from our clinical, industrial–organizational, and applied behavior analysis programs teach undergraduate classes annually, making Florida Tech stand out among other applied behavioral analysis programs. In addition, we have faculty members researching new technologies for reducing self-injurious behavior, conducting animal training, working with autistic children in the Scott Center, and exploring other special research topics.

Florida Tech is the perfect place for a BA in Applied Behavior Analysis. The 130-acre campus is located on the Space Coast (so named because of the presence of NASA and the Kennedy Space Center on Cape Canaveral just north of us), minutes away from the Indian River Lagoon, the most diverse estuary in North America.

The area has the fifth largest high-tech workforce in the country, with more than 5,000 high-tech corporations and government and military organizations located nearby. This workforce also provides an abundance of internship and employment opportunities.

Florida Tech is just over the causeway from the Atlantic Ocean with its 72 miles of beautiful beaches, and a short trip to the Florida Keys or the Orlando theme parks. We also have a rich campus life that includes a wide range of intramural and collegiate sports, clubs, and social activities.

Build Lasting Professional Relationships through Campus Organizations

Beyond the classroom, applied behavior analysis majors build leadership experience through exciting internships and participation in academic organizations like the Undergraduate Psychology Student Association, student government, and over 100 other student organizations.

Florida Tech is home to a chapter of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. Psi Chi is an active student organization that participates in community service and other campus-wide events, such as providing members with the opportunity to shadow a graduate student in their research project.

Active Minds is a nationwide organization that focuses on psychology and mental health, working to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues. As members of Active Minds, students can take part in planning events and seminars that utilize the student voice to change perceptions of mental health on college campuses.
