Connection programs are offered to students attending Florida community colleges.  A list of approved schools is listed.  Students must enroll in this program prior to attaining 30 credits at their current institution and must fill out a FastTrack or Connection form to participate in the program.  Please return the completed form to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Florida Institute of Technology has long been a premier educational choice for transfer students. The Florida Tech Connection program is a dual-admission program designed to help high school graduates pursue an associate of arts degree from a community college followed by a bachelor’s degree at Florida Tech’s Melbourne campus.

Who is eligible to participate in the Florida Tech Connection?

• Any currently enrolled community college student who applies to Florida Tech before earning 30 credits at their community college

Which students might benefit from the Florida Tech Connection?

• Students who need additional preparation prior to attending Florida Tech
• The student who is admitted to Florida Tech but whose financial circumstances prevent enrollment as a full-time first-year student
• The student who is currently enrolled at a community college who has earned fewer than 30 credits and plans to complete their full-time baccalaureate studies at Florida Tech

Must a student apply to a community college as well as Florida Tech to be eligible?
Yes. Students interested in the Florida Tech Connection must apply to enroll or be enrolled in an approved associate of arts degree seeking program at a community college.

Is the Florida Tech Connection open to students for all major areas of study at Florida Tech?
Yes. In some majors, Florida Tech has an articulation agreement with community colleges. In those areas where the course of study is not clearly articulated, academic advisers from Florida Tech will assist the student in the proper selection of courses. However, it is recommended that students enroll in the associate of arts degree program to maximize the number of transfer credits given at FloridaTech.

How should students apply for financial aid?
Florida Tech require students to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which should be filed as soon as possible after Jan. 1. Students eligible for the Florida Tech Connection must request that the StudentAid Report from FAFSA be sent to Florida Tech (Code 001469).

Does Florida Tech offer any scholarships or grants to community college students?
Community college graduates are awarded a Florida Tech Connection Program Achievement Grant of $6,000, equivalent to what an in-state resident would pay for the cost of an associate degree program ($3,000 will be disbursed in each of the junior and senior years at Florida Tech). If academic merit warrants, a student will instead be awarded a Transfer or Phi Theta Kappa scholarship (he or she will be awarded the highest scholarship; they do not stack). Florida Tech Connection students are eligible for admissions incentives and need-based financial assistance. The Florida Tech Army ROTC program also offers full tuition scholarships to students with the desire to become commissioned U.S. Army officers.

How does a Florida Tech Connection student move from community college
to Florida Tech?
Florida Tech Connection students must achieve a 2.5 cumulative GPA in their course of study at a community college to enroll at Florida Tech with the $6,000 Florida Tech Connection Program Achievement Grant. Students should request that their community college send their transcript to Florida Tech and then call the Florida Tech Office of Admission to indicate that they are prepared to enroll for the following term.

Are there other benefits for students in the Florida Tech Connection Program?
The Florida Tech Connection student will have a Florida Tech academic adviser in addition to their community college adviser during their course of study at the community college. They will be invited to a Florida Tech Connection orientation at Florida Tech at the beginning of their first term.
