Adjunct Faculty Hiring/Recruitment

In order to ensure compliance and consistency when hiring Adjuncts, beginning this semester, job requisitions should be created and posted in Workday when recruiting for new/replacement adjunct openings.

  • Search Committee interview/selection is not required for adjunct hiring process.
  • If there is a candidate in mind for the vacancy, the candidate should be instructed to apply to the open requisition. Once the final candidate has been selected, the department can initiate the offer in Workday.
  • Upon the candidate's acknowledgement of their position placeholder, the candidate will be required to complete a criminal and education background check.
  • Once cleared, their hire will be finalized in Workday and Period Activity Pay can be initiated, which outlines the terms of their assignment.

Adjunct Faculty Performace Evaluations

Florida Tech is dedicated to maintaining excellence in teaching and enhancing student learning outcomes and overall educational experience. Performance of all adjunct faculty must be evaluated as described in the Adjunct Faculty Evaluation Policy that policy applies to all Florida Tech adjunct faculty, regardless of course level, modality, academic program, or location. The policy provides guidelines for adjunct faculty evaluation and promotes continuous improvement of instructional quality and professional development.

To ensure a comprehensive and consistent process for evaluating adjunct faculty performance, the academic units will use the Adjunct Faculty Teaching Evaluation Form that must be submitted to the Dean's Office and the Office of the Provost within four weeks of the start of the subsequent semester. When an adjunct is contracted to teach online courses for two consecutive semesters, a single performance evaluation covering both terms is sufficient.
