Ensembles

The Florida Tech University Bands, Choral Ensembles, and String Orchestra engage students in large ensemble participation, including two weekly rehearsals and a final performance at the end of the semester. In some semesters, additional performances on- or off-campus are included. All ensembles can be taken for credit and may be taken multiple times.


Go To Band Program

The Florida Tech University Bands provides students the opportunity to participate in any of the three large ensembles offered at Florida Tech. Graduate students may audit the class at no extra cost. The Wind Ensemble rehearses on Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-6:45pm with a final performance at the end of the semester. The Big Band rehearses weekly with multiple performance opportunities both on and off-campus. The Pep Band is an ensemble that prepares music for a number of university events including home basketball games. Auditions are not required for entrance into an ensemble, however, chair placement auditions for new students are required and held at the beginning of each semester.

Go To String Orchestra

The String Orchestra rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday from 5-6:15pm. The ensemble works towards a final concert that is held at the end of each semester. The repertoire consists of major works, recently composed music, and popular literature for orchestra. The Orchestra is open to all Florida Tech students regardless of academic discipline.  At Florida Tech, students who play the violin, viola, cello, or double bass can enroll each semester for course credit. Graduate students may audit the class for $0. Students in need of instruments can borrow university owned instruments at no cost. Students develop musical leadership skills while playing challenging repertoires with their peers.

Go To Voice Ensembles

Florida Tech offers singers two options in choral ensembles. Students may wish to enroll in the Concert Choir and/or the Tech Tonics acapella ensemble. All choral ensembles are open to all singers with no audition required. All choral ensembles are open to Florida Tech students regardless of academic discipline.  Each ensemble rehearses twice weekly and include an end of semester performance. In some semesters, additional performances on- or off-campus are included. All ensembles can be taken for credit and may be taken multiple times. Graduate students can audit for $0.
