Meagan Porter

Bio

I am advised by Eric Perlman and working on my PhD in Space Sciences. I am interested in the evolution of galaxies and galactic structure. I am currently working on a pipeline that will analyze previous Chandra data of M87 for potential novae bursts in the X-ray.

I received my BA in Physics at Austin Peay State University in 2025. I was born in Florida but have lived half of my life here and half in Tennessee. I’ve loved astronomy since I was a child, and I became truly interested in research when my undergraduate astronomy professor began offering projects to students who wanted to enter the field.
