Alex Tempert

Bio

I am advised by Dr. Hamid Rassoul and Dr. Amitabh Nag, working on my Ph.D. in Physics. I am interested in atmospheric electricity and the electrical discharge events that occur on Earth. I currently study slowly-varying electric fields as well as fair field leakage currents to measure developing thunderstorms for the purpose of rocket launch safety.

I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and raised in Kingman, AZ. I completed my BS in Physics and BS in Astronomy and Astrophysics at Florida Institute of Technology in 2021. I then started my Ph.D. in 2022 and have since completed an internship with SpaceX.
