Dear Students, Alumni, Parents and Friends,
This has been a great year for Catholic Campus Ministry. First of all our two new staff members have been a welcome and productive addition. You may have already interacted with Ms. Lynn Jaime (wife of alumnus Marc Jaime,”85) who just finished her second year as Executive Assistant. Our newest addition is Fr. Michael Neeland, SDS, a member of my very own Salvatorian community and just ordained in May 2017.
This past year we have introduced a monthly student dinner (in addition to the Wednesday night spaghetti dinner). This dinner strengthens our Catholic students after Mass on Sunday evening and is followed by a short catechetical talk and fellowship time. We now have an endowed scholarship to support musicians at our liturgies. This August we went with five students to the Evangelical Training Camp and have increased our Small Faith Groups. There are more students involved in Campus Ministry than ever before and more lives are being touched.
Recently one of graduates wrote this note:
“I am so grateful that I finally found Catholic Campus Ministry in my junior year. Prior to meeting you and the other student leaders of campus ministry, my life revolved around me: what I could get out of life and what pleasure I could have. But then I found out that the only way to be truly happy is to make Jesus Christ the center of my life and to live for others. My wife and four children thank you as well. God Bless.”
This year we especially need your support to continue our ministry with the students. I’m coming to the end of my active ministry and it will be time to retire soon. But I can’t retire until I know that this ministry will be in faithful hands and I’m sure it will be with Fr. Mike, but he needs my help to get established and get comfortable in his new ministry as a priest. That’s why we come to you HAT IN HAND. For the next year or so there will be two priests ministering here at Florida Tech. I will still be in the area after retirement. We need your help more than ever.
The 25 Week Club is our only fundraiser for the year and works like this: you can have as many $25 entries as you would like. PLEASE CONSIDER MULTIPLE ENTRIES! With each entry you participate in each of 25 weekly drawings. A prize of $25 is awarded weekly and every fifth week two $25 tickets are drawn during the spaghetti dinner. You need not be present to win!
Thank you for your continued support. Without you we are nothing.
