Admission Requirements For Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment applicants must submit all requested documentation (application, transcripts, SAT or ACT results and letter of endorsement) before an admission decision can be made. Incomplete applications will not be considered. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that all requested materials are sent to, and received by, the Office of Undergraduate Admission at Florida Tech.

Admission Standards for Dual Enrollment Applicants

Applicants for dual enrollment at Florida Tech must:

  • Provide evidence supporting the potential for success in rigorous first-year college-level courses.
  • Be junior or senior level high school students
  • Have attained at least a 3.00 (un-weighted on a 4.00 scale) cumulative grade point average (GPA).
  • Report a combined SAT score of at least 1100 or an ACT composite score of at least 24 (with a math score of 550 (SAT) or 25 (ACT) if courses in math, science or engineering are desired).
  • Be in the top 25% of their class (if school ranks apply).
  • Meet all pre-requisites required for desired courses of study as outlined in the Florida Tech catalog. As an example, a pre-Calculus course must be successfully completed prior to consideration for Calculus I, and Calculus I is required to be taken in conjunction with or prior to Physics I.
  • Demonstrate a maturity consistent with college level performance.

Limitations:

  • Students may only dual enroll for a total of 12 semester credit hours at Florida Tech. In special circumstances, dual enrolled students can be evaluated, after completing a total of 12 semester credit hours, for additional dual enrollment coursework by the Academic Support Center Director.
  • Dual enrolled students must meet prerequisites, as outlined in the university catalog, prior to registration in any particular course.
  • In general, dual enrolled students are limited to first and second year college level courses (1000 and 2000 level). See Courses tab for an example list of courses available to dual enrolled students.
  • Dual enrolled students are allowed to enroll in courses on a space available basis and only with the permission of the university professor teaching the course.
  • Dual enrolled courses are not allowed after graduating from high school.
