What is Panther Ready?

Panther Ready is a time-saving and cost-lowering course material bundling program that ensures students can get all of their required course materials in-hand by the first day of class. Offered by Barnes & Noble College (BNC) in partnership with Florida Tech, Panther Ready is a "concierge" service designed to help students rent and/or purchase their textbooks and other course materials, for all of their classes, through a quick and straightforward process.

Panther Ready 2

Panther Ready makes getting your course materials more convenient and affordable.

Enrollment in Panther Ready is automatic and happens at the start of each term/semester. Students who wish to acquire their required textbooks and course materials on their own may opt-out of Panther Ready before the start of each term/semester they are enrolled at Florida Tech.

  • Pay just $27 per credit hour for all required course materials
  • Save 35-50% on the cost of course materials each term
  • Receive all your course materials by the first day of class
  • Automatic enrollment at start of each term/semester with option to opt-out

How Panther Ready Works

1. Register

Register for classes. Our system will know what books and other resources you'll require.

2. Review

Confirm your courses and select how you would like to receive your physical materials.

3. Receive

You will get a notification when your package is on its way, or when its ready for you to pick up.

4. Return

Another course term is in the books! Now it's time to return the rented ones. (We will remind you.)

1. Register for Class

Upon registering for courses each term/semester, you will be automatically enrolled in Panther Ready and the Florida Tech Bookstore will begin packaging your materials. A $27 per credit hour charge will be applied to your student account, saving you 35–50% on the cost of course materials.

Note these important reminders:

  • If your semester involves an internship or classes with no book, or your course materials are free, you will want to carefully review the cost-savings information and may choose to opt out.
  • If you will need the same textbook for more than one class, it may be more cost effective to buy it once than rent it multiple times through Panther Ready. Again, review your options carefully prior to verifying or opting out for the term/semester.

2. Verify Your Order or Opt-out

About 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email about your course materials. The email will contain a link to verify your order and select how you would like to receive your course materials. You have the option to pick up your materials on campus or have them shipped to you. Access codes for digital materials will be active during the semester and shared with you via Canvas.

Once you verify, Panther Ready will procure the materials for all of your courses. If you choose to opt-out, you will have to source all course materials independently. Although the program benefits most students, you may wish to compare the cost of course materials required for your classes before deciding to participate. You may choose to opt out only during the selection period for the upcoming term/semester.

The Verify and Opt-Out Link is active starting Dec. 15 through Jan. 22. See the link in the side menu.

3. Receive Your Materials

If you participate in the program, an email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup at the Florida Tech Bookstore or when it ships. Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Canvas.

4. Return the Rentals

It's important to return any rented course materials on-time to avoid additional charges. Rented materials are due back to the Florida Tech Bookstore by the last day of finals for the term/semester in which they were acquired.
