MAJ Matthew Evans

Assistant Professor of Military Science

Bio

MAJ Matt Evans is a native of Alpine, Texas, he commissioned from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2009. His first assignment was to 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division where he served as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and S4 in 4-17 Infantry. His next assignment was to 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division where he served as a Motorized Troop Commander and Headquarters Troop Commander in 1-33 Cavalry. He was then assigned as Chief of Current Operations for the US Army North Contingency Command Post. MAJ Evans’ next assignment was to 3rd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division where he served as the Executive Officer for 3-89 Cavalry, and Operations Officer for 2-4 Infantry. His latest assignment was as an Observer Coach Trainer at the Joint Readiness Training Center.

MAJ Evans has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History, a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership, and a Master’s Degree in Operational Studies. He is a graduate of the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, and Intermediate Level Education at the Command and General Staff College. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star with OLC, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 OLC, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal.

MAJ Evans is married to his wife Selina, and they have two children, Kylee and Camila.
