Personal Overview

Dr. Ananth Vedururu Srinivas earned his B.Sc. (Honours), M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (SSSIHL), India. His doctoral research, which focused on optimal control strategies for biological conservation and bio-control, was supported by a prestigious research fellowship from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India.

During his doctoral studies, he published four research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at a conference hosted by the University of Lyon, France, in 2019. He also mentored graduate students on research projects that resulted in four publications investigating treatment strategies for reducing COVID-19 infections through within-host mathematical modeling. Following his Ph.D., Dr. Srinivas served as a postdoctoral fellow at LSU Health Sciences Center, New Orleans, where he conducted research in mathematical and computational neuroscience. He collaborated with experimental researchers from Boston University and published 3 articles. One manuscript and a book chapter on Gap Junctions are under review.

His scholarly interests lie in mathematical modeling, dynamical systems, bifurcation analysis, and optimal control, with applications to biological systems, specifically in neuroscience, ecology, and epidemiology.

A strong advocate for international engagement and academic service, Dr. Srinivas served as the President of the LSU Health International Student Association (ISA) during the 2023–2024 academic year. He currently serves on the editorial board of the newsletter of the Society for Mathematical Biology (SMB). He is also committed to broadening public understanding of mathematics and neuroscience through outreach initiatives such as Brain Awareness Day.

Dr. Srinivas believes that supportive academic communities are essential for both personal and professional growth. Dedicated to student success, he strives to provide transformative educational experiences and meaningful undergraduate research opportunities that inspire curiosity, innovation, and lifelong learning.
