Safety and Security

Residence Life is committed to providing students with a safe and secure environment where they can grow. There are numerous policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. It is also important for students to make good decisions and be aware of their surroundings on and off campus. Florida Tech Security and Residence Life work in conjunction in promoting the safety of our residential students.

RA Duty Hours

Duty RAs patrol the buildings and hallways in each area to assist in ensuring campus policies are being followed.  Duty RAs are responsible for managing that particular housing area so residents can approach any duty RA for assistance even if it is not their regularly assigned RA. 

Duty hours are from 8 PM to midnight Sunday night through Thursday night and from 9 PM to 1 AM on Friday and Saturday nights in the following areas: Roberts, the Housing Quad, Columbia Village, Harris Village, and Crimson Crossing. RAs in Mary Star of the Sea, Panther Bay, and Southgate serve in an on-call capacity meaning residents can reach the RA through a work cellphone. (Sunday – Thursday: 8:00 PM – 12:00 AM and Friday – Saturday: 9:00 PM – 1:00 AM).

Duty RAs can assist with lockouts, help enforce quiet hours, investigate maintenance or custodial concerns, provide information about upcoming Residence Life events, and can be a listening ear for residents.
