Application Process Overview
International applicants follow Florida Tech's standard undergraduate application process. However, the documents required for your application and for enrollment may vary (see below). We assess academic records within the context of your country's unique educational system. There is no fee to submit an undergraduate application.
First Year and Transfer Applicants can apply, for free, through:
Admission Deadline
Rolling admission (early submission is encouraged). Florida Tech uses a rolling admission policy, which means that we accept applications throughout the year and make decisions as applications are completed.
I-20 Deadline
International students should keep in mind their country's Visa Appointment Wait Times and submit their application at least two weeks prior to the I-20 deadline for the semester to which they are applying. Applications received after the I-20 deadline may not be considered for that entry term.

Students who are currently enrolled in their final year of secondary school or have completed secondary school but have not taken any college level courses after graduation are considered Freshman applicants. Freshman applicants may apply any time during their final year of secondary school.

Students who have completed secondary school and taken courses at a college or university are considered Transfer applicants. Transfer applicants should apply during their final academic year at their current school.

- Secondary school transcript (if you have earned fewer than 24 college credits)
- Formal English translation issued by a school or translation service (if applicable)

Students who formerly attended Florida Tech and have not taken classes for two or more years must apply for readmission. Readmission applicants must submit a Transfer application and list Florida Tech in the "Academic History" section. If you have not attended another college or university since leaving Florida Tech, you do not need to resubmit your academic credentials.
International Transcript Requirements
Florida Tech receives applications from all over the world and we understand that not all educational systems follow the same GPA calculation, grading standards, or calendar as U.S. high schools. Your application will be reviewed in the context of your home country. You do not need to convert your GPA or provide course equivalencies when submitting your application. We require academic records for at least three years of secondary school along with any board exams or leaving certificates. Please see below for the documents required for your application and enrollment.

- All documents must be translated to English
- Florida Tech does not require a course-by-course evaluation upon initial review of an application. However, there might be the situations where we cannot conduct the evaluation in house and will ask you to provide an evaluation from an NACES approved member evaluation agency. If you are required to submit a transcript evaluation, you will be contacted directly by an Admission Counselor

Documents Required after Admission
If English is not your first language, you will be required to demonstrate English proficiency before enrolling or receiving your I-20. Please see the Demonstrating English Proficiency webpage for a complete list of options to satisfy Florida Tech's English proficiency requirement. Students who have attended an English language school for at least three years will be waived from the proficiency requirement.
Florida Tech accepts the following test scores:
- TOEFL iBT: 80
- TOEFL Essentials: 9
- IELTS: 6.5 overall band
- PTE Academic: 58
- Cambridge English: Advanced: 180 (Grade C)
- Duolingo English Test: 105

Students must submit their final, official transcripts and test scores. See the dropdowns above for the required documents for your education system.
Florida Tech awards credit for exams such as AP, IB, A level, and CAPE. Test scores must be sent directly from the examining body for credit to be awarded. See the Credit by Exam website for details.
Options to submit your official documents:
- Email: Your school may send a copy of your official transcript to admission@fit.edu from a school email address. Please make sure that the message includes your name and application ID number.
- Third-Party Service: Your school may send a copy of your official transcripts digitally using a third-party service such as Parchment.
- Hand Delivery: You may hand deliver a copy of your official transcripts in a sealed envelope to the Office of Admission when you arrive on campus. Paper copies that are not in an envelope sealed by the school will not be accepted.

If you have completed courses at another college or university, you may be eligible for transfer credit. After you have been admitted and submitted the required documents below, you will receive a Transfer Credit Evaluation (TCE) report that outlines which courses will apply to your Florida Tech degree.

Most international students must obtain an F-1 (student) visa, unless they already hold an immigration status that permits study in the United States. The first step in the process is to receive an I-20 from Florida Tech. Please refer to the New Student Visa Requirements webpage for details.
Florida Tech will not issue an I-20 until the following conditions have been met:
- Students must be admitted to Florida Tech
- Students must accept their offer of admission by paying the $300 tuition deposit
- Students must demonstrate English Language Proficiency (if English is not their first language)
- Students must submit the required identification and financial documents (see New Student Visa Requirements)
*Canadian and Bermudan students only require an I-20; they are not required to apply for an F-1 visa.

International Scholarships & Financial Aid
All undergraduate students admitted to Florida Tech are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships. Florida Tech does not offer need-based grants or loans to international students. International students are not eligible for federal financial aid (FAFSA) or Florida state financial aid unless they are a permanent resident of the United States or other eligible noncitizen. Florida Tech does not accept the CSS Profile or ISFAA.
Frequently Asked Questions
Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received. Typically, International applicants will receive an admission decision within 4-5 weeks after submitting their application. However, depending on the volume of applications at certain times of year, this turnaround time may increase.
International students should keep in mind their country’s Visa Appointment Wait Times and the university’s I-20 deadlines when applying.
