International Applicants

Requirements For Admission

After a student submits their application, they will receive a link to the Florida Tech Application Portal, where they can check the status of their application and upload any required documents.

All international applicants must submit a Financial Acknowledgement Form on the application portal to complete their application. By signing the Financial Acknowledgement form, you are stating that you understand the cost of attending Florida Tech and the scholarship options available to you. By signing the form, you are not submitting any sort of payment and you do not need to provide proof of funds to complete the form.

Students who are currently enrolled in their final year of secondary school or who have completed secondary school but have not taken any college level courses after graduation are considered Freshman applicants. There is no fee to submit a Freshman application.

    • Transcripts must include at least three full years of your most recent secondary school grades, including any courses currently in progress.
    • If your transcript is written in a language other than English, please provide a word-for-word English translation along with your original transcript.
    • Transcripts uploaded by the student are considered unofficial. Transcripts provided directly from a secondary school are considered official. Official transcripts are not required for your application but are required after acceptance.

Students who have completed secondary school and taken courses at a college or university are considered Transfer applicants. Please review the Transfer Admission Requirements.* There is no fee to submit a Transfer application.

*SAT or ACT scores are not required for international applicants.

Students must hold at least a bachelor's degree (four-year degree) from an accredited domestic college/university or the international equivalent to be eligible for a graduate program. Please review the Graduate Admission Requirements.

Students who formerly attended Florida Tech and have not taken classes for two or more academic years must apply for readmission. Readmission applicants must submit a Transfer application and list Florida Tech in the “Academic History” section. If you have not attended another college or university since leaving Florida Tech, you do not need to resubmit your academic credentials. There is no fee to submit a Transfer application.

When to Apply

Undergraduate

Florida Tech uses a rolling admission policy, which means that we accept applications throughout the year and make decisions as applications are completed. Freshman applicants may apply any time during their final year of secondary school. Transfer applicants should apply during their final academic year at their current school.

Graduate

Florida Tech uses a rolling admission policy however there are deadlines for certain graduate programs. Please review the Graduate Admission Requirements for details.

All International Students

All International students should keep in mind their country’s Visa Appointment Wait Times and should submit their applications at least two weeks prior to the I-20 deadline for the semester to which they are applying. Applications received after the I-20 deadline may not be considered for that entry term.

Obtaining Your Student Visa

All international students must obtain an F-1 (student) visa to study at Florida Tech or have an immigration status that permits study in the United States. International students must obtain an I-20 before they can apply for an F-1 visa at their nearest U.S. embassy.

  • Students must be accepted for admission to Florida Tech
  • Students must accept their offer of admission by paying the $300 tuition deposit
  • Students must demonstrate if English is not their native language

Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received. Typically, International applicants will receive an admission decision within 4-5 weeks after submitting their application. However, depending on the volume of applications at certain times of the year, this turnaround time may increase.

International students should keep in mind their country’s Visa Appointment Wait Times and the university’s I-20 deadlines when applying.

Cost of attendance depends on your level of study (undergraduate or graduate) and your major or program. Details of the annual cost of attendance for International students is outlined in the Financial Acknowledgement Form located in the application portal.

Undergraduate: Florida Tech offers partial academic merit scholarships to undergraduate International students that go up to $12,500 annually. Any student who applies is automatically considered for scholarships and will be notified of their scholarship award upon admission. Florida Tech does not offer need-based financial aid to International students or full tuition scholarships.

Graduate: Florida Tech does not offer scholarships to Graduate students.  Please refer to other forms of Graduate funding. Graduate Student Assistantships (GSAs) are available in a minimal capacity and are offered at the department's discretion. GSA funding is strictly determined and approved by the specific department. Before applying to a GSA, you must contact the department to secure an advisor; please refer to our faculty profiles.

International students are not eligible for federal financial aid (FAFSA) or Florida state financial aid unless they are a permanent resident of the United States or other eligible noncitizen

Florida Tech does not offer loans to International students.

Florida Tech does not offer need-based financial aid to international students and therefore does not accept the ISFAA or CSS Profile for international students. The university does not provide fee waivers for either of these programs.

Undergraduate: It is free to submit an undergraduate application (Freshman or Transfer).

Graduate: Florida Tech does not offer application fee waivers for graduate programs.

Undergraduate: Florida Tech has a one year residency requirement which requires all full-time undergraduate students to live on campus and purchase a meal plan for their first two years at the university unless they meet the designated exception criteria. Housing options can be found on the Housing website and meal plan options can be found on the Campus Dining website. Admitted undergraduate students must pay their $300 tuition deposit and $100 housing application fee before they can apply for on-campus housing.

Graduate: On-campus housing and meal plans are available to Graduate students but are not mandatory. Housing options can be found on the Housing website and meal plan options can be found on the Campus Dining website.

Students are not required to submit English proficiency exam scores when submitting their application. However, once a student is admitted and decides to attend Florida Tech, they must demonstrate English proficiency before their I-20 will be issued. Transcripts provided by the student are considered unofficial. Transcripts provided directly from a secondary school, college, or university are considered official. Official transcripts are not required when you apply, but are required if you decide to attend Florida Tech. Admitted students must submit their final official transcripts before the end of their first semester at Florida Tech.

Options to submit your official transcript:

  • Email: Your school may send a copy of your official transcript to admission@fit.edu from a school email address. Please make sure that the message includes your name and application ID number.
  • Third-Party Service: Your school may send a copy of your official transcripts digitally using a third-party service such as Parchment.
  • Hand Delivery: You may hand deliver a copy of your official transcripts in a sealed envelope to the Office of Admissions when you arrive on campus. Paper copies that are not in an envelope sealed by the school will not be accepted.
  • Mail: Schools may send official transcripts to the Office of Admissions at the following address:

International students may enroll in fully online programs which allow them to complete their degree anywhere outside of the United States.  Online programs do not allow students to enter the United States on an F-1 (student) visa. Florida Tech does not require a course-by-course evaluation upon initial review of an application. However, there might be situations where we cannot conduct the evaluation in house and will ask you to provide an evaluation from an NACES approved member evaluation agency. If you are required to submit a transcript evaluation, you will be contacted directly by an Admissions counselor.
