Departmental Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Computer Engineering and Sciences is to prepare computing engineering and systems students for success and leadership in the conception, design, management, implementation and operation of complex engineering problems, and to expand knowledge and understanding of computing and engineering through research, scholarship and service.

The program educational objectives for computer engineering are to produce graduates who will:

  1. establish themselves as practicing professionals who will engage in advanced studies in engineering or a related field;
  2. display awareness of the importance of opportunities for lifelong learning;
  3. excel in the global marketplace; and
  4. demonstrate the ability to work successfully as members of professional teams and function effectively as responsible professionals.

  1. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
