McKenna Taylor

Bio

Meet McKenna! She is a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology in the College of Engineering & Science. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Astrobiology and Astronomy & Astrophysics from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Originally from Arkadelphia, Arkansas, McKenna chose Florida Tech because it was the only university in the United States to offer an undergraduate Astrobiology program, along with extensive opportunities for undergraduate research and leadership.

As a returning President’s Ambassador, her goal is to help new PAs integrate into the program and build on the strong foundation set in its first year. She aims to create a welcoming and authentic experience for prospective students, families, and visitors, while also supporting the president in strengthening connections across campus and the community. Ultimately, she hopes to serve as a positive reflection of the university and inspire others to see Florida Tech as a place where they can thrive.

After graduation, McKenna plans to pursue a Ph.D. and eventually work at NASA to help advance human spaceflight. Her ultimate dream is to become an astronaut.

Her favorite thing about Florida Tech: “Starting a philanthropic partnership between Florida Tech Greek Life and the B+ Foundation to raise money for the families of children with cancer! Also, Color Wars! I was on the orientation team every year as an undergraduate student and loved getting to welcome new students to campus. Seeing everyone dress up for Color Wars and have fun with the competition was always super fun:) Also, the chicken parm pizza at the Rat is amazing.”

Her involvement at Florida Tech: Gamma Phi Beta (Financial Advisor, Recruitment Advisor), Graduate Student Research Assistant in Space Plant Biology

Her involvement off campus: 2024-2025 ASF Astronaut Scholar, American Society of Gravitational and Space Research Student Board (Education and Outreach Coordinator)
