Cameron Young

Bio

Meet Cameron! He is a junior studying Physics with a minor in Music in the College of Engineering & Science.

Originally from Panama City Beach, Florida, Cameron first learned about Florida Tech from a family friend who graduated in 1983. He was drawn to the university’s strong programs, especially in music, and the unique opportunities available. With his intent to study Physics, the labs and courses particularly appealed to him. What ultimately sealed the deal was the welcoming environment and the people he met during his campus tour.

As a President’s Ambassador, Cameron hopes to give back to the university and serve as a role model for fellow students. He also wants to help further bridge the sciences and the arts.

After graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in nuclear physics and later work in nuclear labs or power generation.

His favorite thing about Florida Tech: “The people! While my classes and academics have been phenomenal, it is the people with whom I have surrounded myself that have made all the difference. Whether that be my professors who have helped tremendously through tough classes, my friends who routinely brighten my day, or just the relaxed conversations with random students around campus. This school is filled with incredible people, and the positive environment has helped me grow as a person and excel both in and out of the classroom. Without such a positive and welcoming community, I do not know if my academic record would be as successful as it is up to this point. The people truly make all the difference. Also, the recitals during concert season. All the concerts are great, but I love both participating in and watching the soloist recitals at the end of each semester in particular. It shows off some incredible musicians and, due to being right before finals, is a nice break from any stress from studying.”

His involvement at Florida Tech: Phi Eta Sigma, Sigma Pi Sigma, Concert Bang (Lead Clarinetist)
