Meet Your 2026-2027 Ambassadors

Meet Darryl! He is a Ph.D. student in Physics in the College of Engineering & Science. Darryl holds a Bachelor of Science in Astronomy & Astrophysics and in Physics with a minor in Music from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Originally from North Port, Florida, he chose Florida Tech after feeling right at home during his initial campus tour. Florida Tech offered undergraduate opportunities in his desired major, high-ranking programs, and a music program. He appreciated the university’s wealth of academic and support resources, along with its small faculty-to-student ratio, which fosters meaningful connections. Darryl also values Florida Tech’s ideal location on the Space Coast for his space-related interests.

As a returning President’s Ambassador, he hopes to deepen his knowledge and experience in professional environments while expanding his network. He’d like to continue growing his network and professionalism skills. He hopes to assist in the development of the philanthropy effort within the program and see it become a tradition at the university. As an inaugural President’s Ambassador, he especially hopes to contribute to a successful culture and community of camaraderie among the year three cohort.

After graduation, he aspires to work in the space physics field, advancing human understanding of our solar system environment and conducting research in plasma physics and its potential applications for society. Darryl enjoys learning new knowledge and perspectives, and thinks Neil Armstrong said it best: “Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of man's desire to understand."

His favorite thing about Florida Tech: “Seeing night rocket launches from the top of the parking garage.”

His involvement at Florida Tech: Tau Kappa Epsilon (Alumni), Jazz Band, Graduate Student Assistant in Physics

In his free time: “I like to research topics outside of my field of physics. I enjoy playing both upright bass and bass guitar. I also like to read and play chess.”
