Alyssa Fox
Meet Alyssa! She is a Psy.D. student in Clinical Psychology in the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts. Alyssa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Child Advocacy Studies from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Originally from Port St. Lucie, Florida, Alyssa chose to stay at Florida Tech for her doctoral degree primarily due to the strong sense of belonging she feels on campus. Florida Tech has become a community where she feels genuinely supported and connected. Florida Tech also provides opportunities to grow through research, leadership, mentorship, and meaningful relationships with faculty and students.
As a returning President’s Ambassador, Alyssa hopes to continue to bring new perspectives to the table to most effectively advocate for past, current, and future students. She aims to show students that their voices are valued and heard at Florida Tech by advocating for the continued success of the university.
After graduation, she aspires to become a pediatric psychologist working within medical settings with children and adolescents living with chronic illnesses. She hopes to help young patients and their families navigate the emotional and psychological challenges that often accompany chronic health conditions while integrating mental health care into their overall treatment. As a first-generation college graduate and now doctoral student, Alyssa’s strong passion for education has empowered her to take advantage of every opportunity that comes her way. This passion has guided her research, leadership style, and aspiration to help as many people as possible in her career. She hopes to use this passion to inspire the next generation of students to make the most out of their education and to cherish this opportunity.
Her favorite thing about Florida Tech: “Market Day!”
Her involvement at Florida Tech: Active Minds (Secretary), College Players (Crafts Committee Head), Campus Activity Board, Forensic Psychology and Science Society, Animal Behavior & Cognition Graduate Student Assistant, Psychology Research Assistant
In her free time: “I love doing anything crafty! I find it simultaneously relaxing and rewarding to sit down for a few hours and create something out of nothing. I also really enjoy listening to music, reading, and spending time with my loved ones (humans and animals!)”
