Amber King

Meet Amber! She is a Ph.D. student in Industrial/Organizational Psychology in the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts. Amber holds a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology.

A local student from Melbourne, Florida, Amber chose to stay at Florida Tech for her doctorate because it offers the ideal environment to pursue her research interests (leadership, team dynamics, and interoperability within emergency services). As an undergraduate student, she had the opportunity to work closely with faculty whose mentorship and research shaped her passion for applying industrial/organizational psychology to real-world challenges. The program’s emphasis on the scientist-practitioner model and collaborative research makes Florida Tech the perfect place to continue her development as a researcher while preparing for a career as a professor.

As a returning President’s Ambassador, Amber hopes to represent Florida Tech by connecting with the community while showcasing the opportunities the university provides. She also hopes to continue to develop her leadership and professional skills, give back to the campus community, and inspire other students to pursue their academic and professional goals.

After graduation, Amber aims to build a career as a professor and researcher, using applied industrial/organizational psychology to improve emergency services. Ultimately, she wants her work to bridge research and practice by building evidence-based strategies that strengthen coordination, improve team effectiveness, and enhance operational performance across emergency response organizations. Amber is passionate about using psychology to make a meaningful impact beyond the classroom. She values collaboration and is always eager to learn from others while giving back whenever she can.
