Cameron Young
Meet Cameron! He is a senior studying Physics with a minor in Music in the College of Engineering & Science.
Originally from Panama City Beach, Florida, Cameron first learned about Florida Tech from a family friend who graduated in 1983. He was drawn to the university’s strong programs, especially in music, and the unique opportunities available. With his intent to study Physics, the labs and courses particularly appealed to him. What ultimately sealed the deal was the welcoming environment and the people he met during his campus tour. He wanted a smaller school where he could really get to know the people around him, and he’s gotten exactly that from Florida Tech.
As a returning President’s Ambassador, Cameron wants to improve his leadership and communication skills. He wants to showcase his experiences to others, especially by highlighting the music program. He looks forward to taking an active role in the development of the philanthropy project and seeing it come to life.
After graduation, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in nuclear physics and later pursue a career in nuclear energy and reactor engineering.
His favorite thing about Florida Tech: “Normal day to day, I will say the turtle pond. I love just chilling out there for a bit during a busy day. However, I do love me a basketball game. Partially because I go with the pep band and all my friends. Makes for a very fun time.”
His involvement at Florida Tech: Concert Band, Pep Band, Research
In his free time: “Over the last year in particular I have gotten really into cooking. I do a lot now. Sourdough, baguettes, homemade pasta and various sauces, katsu, basically anything I could want. I enjoy the experience of trying new things in the kitchen. Hosting especially is very fun.”
