Communication Success Stories

Ashley Kalita (B.S, Communication, ‘13) works as  a senior consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington D.C. She is currently working as a federal contractor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Some of her responsibilities include developing production schedules for national newsletters, writing articles for distribution internally and nationally, collecting materials and supporting the document concurrence of materials before they are placed on government websites including FEMA.gov, and preparing talking points, slide decks, memos, and speeches.

Elizabeth Counsman, (B.S., Communication, ‘01, J.D., ‘05, M.A., New Media Journalism, ‘13) is the Corporate Communications Manager for Satcom Direct. She creates and manages internal and external communications. Counsman also drives corporate strategy with message development; plans, creates and manages content for social media, including posts for international locations; and creates and implements procedures for managing content.

Drew Lacy (B.S., Communication, ‘14) is the head of Marketing and Communications at VentureLab.org in Austin, Texas. She develops and executes the overall marketing strategy to help VentureLab succeed in creating the next generation of innovators and changemakers by equipping educators, parents and youth leaders with materials to teach the entrepreneurial mindset.

Kelsey Arnold (B.S., Communication, ‘13) has worked as a technical writer and editor for a software start up, a technical editor supporting flight tests for the U.S. Air Force and is currently part of a web development team at Northrop Grumman in Virginia working on a project to improve lives for U.S. Army soldiers. Arnold wears multiple hats, including web architect, content writer, user interface and user experience (UI/UX) analyst, customer support and technical editor.

Hector Severeyn (M.S., Global Strategic Communication, ’13) is an Emmy Award Winning Sports Anchor at WKTB-Telemundo Atlanta. With over ten years of experience in broadcasting, Severeyn has covered sporting events across the globe and earned eight individual Emmy Awards, including Sports Reporter of the Year in 2015 and Sports Anchor of the Year in 2016.

Humanities Success Stories

Adam Paulauskas (B.A., Humanities, '12) 1LT Medical Operations, US Army, Corrections Officer, FL Dept. of Corrections

Zoe Ashton (B.A., Humanities, and B.S., Applied Mathematics, ’16) won the 2016 Florida Tech President’s Cup award. She received an M.A. (Philosophy, '18) from Simon Fraser University and is pursuing a doctoral degree in philosophy at Ohio State University. 

Elizabeth Webbe Lunny (B.S., Humanities, ’93) is the vice president of media at The New York Times, and publisher of T: The New York Times Style Magazine. She was the 2016 recipient of Florida Institute of Technology’s Outstanding Alumni Award. 

Katheryn Broderick (B.A., Humanities, ’10, M.S., Global Strategic Communication, ’14) received graduate degrees from University of Dublin, Trinity College (M.Phil., Medieval Languages, Literature & Culture, ’12) and William & Mary Law School (J.D., ’18). She is assistant counsel with Global Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory at AIG in New York City. 

Barry Horne (B.A., Humanities, ’96) is a Ph.D. student in genetics and genomics and the Immunology and Training Program at Boston University School of Medicine. 

Morris Richardson (B.A., Humanities, ’96) graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School (J.D., ’00). He was assistant county attorney for the Brevard County Board of Court Commissioners and is currently city attorney for the City of West Melbourne. 

Bayly White DiPilato (B.A., Humanities, Minor, Education, ’07) is a language arts teacher at the Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT) in New Jersey. 

Vincent Bisson (B.A., Humanities, ’06) teaches at Lasell College in Auburndale, Massachusetts.
