Local after hour Urgent Care Center
If you are ill and the Holzer Health Center is closed, we encourage the use of the off-campus Urgent Care associated with the school, Premier Urgent Care at 321-242-SICK(7425), 6300 N. Wickham Road, Suite 101, Melbourne, FL, 32940, where certain accommodations are made for students. They are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 5pm.

When they are closed, or if you choose, you can go to any local urgent care center in your insurance network. Your copay and costs will be much lower going to an In network provider. Please call them in advance to ensure they accept your insurance and are in network providers.
No referrals are necessary with the student health insurance, but the Holzer Health Center will be happy to assist you in making an appointment with an outside provider or specialist. If you have the Student Health Insurance, be sure to read the brochure to determine if a CLAIM FORM is required.
If you receive a referral or follow up appointment from the hospital please make sure that this provider is "In Network" and accepts your insurance. The hospital makes referrals regardless of your insurance network providers. Any questions or need assistance, please come to the Student Health Center.

It pays to think about the right place to go. Treatment in an emergency department can cost 2 to 3 times more than the same care in your doctor's office. Think about this and the other issues listed below when deciding. If you have Student Health Insurance and you seek medical care at a location other the the Health Center you will be charged your copay ($25.00 at Premier Urgent Care, $75.00 at any other in network Urgent Cares, or $250.00 for Emergency Room, unless you are admitted as an inpatient).
Visits at the Student Health Center by Registered Florida Tech Students are free, costs may be incurred if procedures, treatments, medications, lab work or x-rays are required. Some of these costs will be billed to your insurance.

When you have a problem, do not wait too long to get medical care. If your problem is not life threatening or risking disability, but you are concerned and you cannot get to the Health Center soon enough, go to an urgent care clinic.

If the Urgent Care assesses your illness or injury and determines it to be beyond the scope of out patient care, they will refer you to an emergency room
If you are not sure what to do, and you don't have one of the serious conditions listed above, call the Holzer Health Center. If the office is not open, your phone call will be forwarded to a medical provider. Describe your symptoms objectively including any pertinent past medical history. They will give you recommendations for when and where to go for care. No prescriptions or medication refills will be provided.
