Hazardous Waste
The Florida Tech Environmental Health & Safety(EH&S) Office is responsible for ensuring that lab workers have the appropriate containers to dispose of various kinds of Hazardous Waste. We offer containers for solid and liquid waste that comply with the Department of Transportation’s hazardous materials shipping regulations (49 CFR 173.24). Our staff will pick up and replace any full containers as well as empty chemical containers for disposal.

Biomedical Waste
Biomedical waste is described as any solid or liquid waste which may present a threat to humans. All university personnel (faculty, staff, and students) that generate or work in close proximity to biomedical waste must be trained before commencement of duties and refresher trained annually.

Universal Waste
EH&S staff oversees the Universal Waste Management Program for Florida Tech. Universal wastes are wastes that are commonly found in all facilities and includes batteries, certain pesticides, and bulbs (lamps).
Item Removal
Use the request form below to request the removal of unwanted or surplus items from teaching laboratories and research spaces. This includes laboratory instruments, refrigerators and freezers, computers and peripheral equipment, office furniture, office equipment, and other items requiring removal.
Broken Glass Box Removal
Use the request form below to request the pickup and replacement of broken glass disposal boxes in teaching laboratories and research spaces.
