Radiation Safety

The Radiation Safety Officer, Radiation Safety Committee, and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety(EH&S) is dedicated to ensuring research and teaching exercises involving radioactive substances is executed in a manner which promotes the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors through establishment of a comprehensive radiation safety program.

It is the policy of the Florida Institute of Technology to minimize the exposure of personnel and the public to radiation hazards, and to assure that occupational exposures to ionizing radiation are kept below the permissible limits established for employees which conform to applicable state regulations.

The Radiation Safety Officer and affiliated parties assist the Florida Institute of Technology community by providing consultations, evaluations, and inspections to ensure safety and proper use of radioactive materials. Florida Tech license/permits fall under the Bureau of Radiation Control-Florida Department of Health.
