Manager Resources

Workday makes it easy for managers and supervisors to view and manage their personal information, as well as manage staff and student employees, plus take care of job-related business processes – all within one system.

New Managers

You have likely used Workday to view open positions, apply for jobs, and take care of onboarding tasks, so you will want to get more familiar with the system’s other functionality, depending on your role. View the Basics of Workday Guide

Workday is Florida Tech’s system of record and includes Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, and Grants.

The Workday Resources SharePoint site has self-service training materials, including Job Aids, training videos, and PowerPoint presentations. Log in with your TRACKS info to access the materials.

Employee Self-Service

Managers can manage their personal information within Workday, such as update emergency contacts and view tax information. The profile section in Workday houses all your personal information, and you can even upload a professional photo to complete your profile.

Additionally, Workday can be used as an employee directory to find contact information for staff, faculty, adjuncts, GSAs, student employees, or contingent workers.

Compensation and Payroll

Managers can view their salary, view payslips, update direct deposit payment elections, and update W-4 information.

Current employees can view and print their W-2s from ADP using a passthrough link in Workday.

Benefits

Eligible managers can view benefit information for themselves and eligible dependents, as well as update beneficiaries, among other tasks.

Time Tracking and Absence

Salaried managers will not need to enter a timesheet in Workday.

Hourly managers will need to submit hours worked on their bi-weekly timesheet.

All managers need to request time off as an absence request. This includes vacation time, sick time, anniversary day, floating holiday, jury duty, and the like.

Managers who oversee staff need to approve timesheets bi-weekly and staff absence requests upon receipt.

Managers who oversee student employees need to approve timesheets bi-weekly. Students are not offered vacation or sick time, so this will need to be tracked outside of Workday.

Recruiting and Employment

All recruiting activities, including job postings, applications, background checks, hiring, and onboarding, take place in Workday. Managers can recruit and hire new staff or students.

Workday can parse an applicant’s résumé, saving time entering data.

Managers can review candidates and move desired candidates forward.

Performance Evaluations

The performance evaluation process for their employees is handled in Workday.

Academic

Managers who are also adjuncts can view their current academic appointments and related compensation.

Budgets

Budget managers, known as Cost Center Managers, can view and adjust their department’s financials, including budgets and expenditures.

Former Managers

Former employees who need access to their Florida Tech W-2s should contact the Payroll Office by emailing hr@fit.edu.
