Accepting Your Financial Aid And Next Steps

Accepting your Financial Aid Offer

Students may accept their financial aid offer at any time.  Accepting your aid does not commit a student to attending, it just reserves the funds for your use.

To accept your aid:

  1. Login to PAWS
  2. Select the Financial Aid tab
  3. Select Award
  4. Select Award for Aid Year
  5. Select the current Aid Year and submit

General financial aid information will appear on this page.  You will have the option to review the information and can click on Award Overview to see a complete list of your aid.  If you receive a message that says there is no financial aid information at this time, please contact us.

To proceed, students must review the terms and conditions for their financial aid.  The terms and conditions include information on aid renewal requirements, such as minimum GPA.

Once the student has reviewed the terms and conditions, they can proceed to the Accept Award Offer tab, where students can use the drop down boxes to accept or decline their award offers.  Students should always accept all of their grant and scholarship aid first, as this is gift aid that does not have to be repaid.

Students with loan offers can accept all or part of each loan offer, or decline the entire loan offer.   Students who choose to accept their Federal Direct Stafford loan/s must complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note on studentaid.gov.

Students who have a Parent PLUS loan offer should know that a parent must apply and be approved for this loan to receive funding.   Parents may visit studentaid.gov to complete an application.

When finished, click submit on the bottom of the page.

Submit information on outside scholarships or other aid

If you have been awarded a scholarship from an organization or foundation, be sure to let them know you're attending Florida Tech.  You will also need to send us a copy of your award letter, and check, if you have it already, to our office so that we can update your aid.  Foundations should send scholarship checks, complete with student information to:

Florida Institute of Technology
Office of Financial Aid
150 W University Blvd.
Melbourne, FL
32901

Some students have college savings accounts, such as Florida Prepaid, 529, or other college savings accounts.  Students can use funds from these accounts to cover their remaining balance with Florida Tech.  For information on how to set up payment from a college savings account, contact Student Financial Services.

Students with Veteran’s Education Benefits can use their benefit eligibility to assist with the cost of education.  The first step to using Veteran’s Education Benefits is to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Financial aid requirements will be listed.  Students can check for requirements by accessing our online portal and clicking on Financial Aid, then Eligibility.  The Financial Aid office may also email to request additional documentation, so be sure and check your Florida Tech email daily.
