Federal Financial Aid is available to US Citizens and Eligible non-citizens. Student must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year. To apply, complete the FAFSA.
Federal Grants

SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program
- The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program offers merit-based scholarships to STEM students (bachelor's, master's, and doctoral) in exchange for service.
- Recipients receive full tuition, an annual stipend, and summer internships.
- Graduates are guaranteed civilian employment with the Department of Defense (DoD) after graduation.
- Applications are open annually from August 1 to the first Friday in December.
Stafford Direct Loans
- For undergraduate students
- Need-based loans with eligibility determined by the FAFSA
- The government pays the interest while the student is enrolled at least half-time in a degree seeking program
- Repayment, with interest, typically begins after a six-month grace period following graduation or ceasing attendance at least half-time
- Annual and lifetime borrowing limits apply

- Available to graduate and undergraduate students
- Not based on financial need
- Begins to accrue interest the day the funds are disbursed (paid) to a student's account and will continue to accrue interest through the life of the loan (until the principal and interest are repaid)

- Annual and lifetime borrowing limits apply

Federal Work Study
- For Undergraduate and Graduate students
- Must have unmet need, as determined by the FAFSA
- Students secure a work study job through Florida Tech and receive a bi-weekly paycheck
