Faculty Qualifications for FYE 1000 and ASC 1006

Policy Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to describe the qualifications of faculty members who may be assigned to teach the following courses:

  • FYE 1000 University Experience
  • ASC 1006 Mastering eLearning

Policy Scope

This policy applies to all potential faculty members, full-time and part-time, who may be assigned to teach FYE 1000 and/or ASC 1006.

Policy Statement

To be qualified to teach FYE 1000 University Experience or ASC 1006 Mastering eLearning, the instructor must hold a master’s degree or higher in any discipline.  Those individuals whose highest degree is at the baccalaureate level may also be considered qualified if they graduated with a baccalaureate degree from Florida Tech on a case-by-case basis.

Procedures/Guidelines

Managers responsible for hiring and/or assigning faculty members to teach either FYE 1000 or ASC 1006 shall confirm that the faculty member’s qualifications are in compliance with this policy; and shall confirm either that the faculty member submits academic transcripts and an up-to-date curriculum vitae to the Office of the Provost either electronically to accreditation@fit.edu or via hardcopy addressed to the Office of the Provost, or that such documentation is already on file in the Office of the Provost.

No faculty member may teach before transcripts and an up-to-date curriculum vitae have been submitted to the Office of the Provost.

Responsibilities

Managers are responsible for hiring and/or assigning faculty members who are qualified to teach FYE 1000 or ASC 1006 in compliance with this policy.

Faculty members are responsible for submitting an up-to-date curriculum vitae to the Office of the Provost either electronically to accreditation@fit.edu or via hardcopy addressed to the Office of the Provost.

The Associate Provost for Accreditation shall confirm that all necessary qualification documentation is on file.
