Resources

A resource is an action or strategy that may be adopted for effective operation, and that can be readily drawn upon when needed. Florida Tech's I/O psychology program cares about each individual student and their individual goals and ambitions. We help students obtain the education and experiences they need to reach their goals. But we know that classwork, research, and practice are only part of the story. Below we outline just a few of the resources available to support and nurture the whole student.

Florida Tech Industrial/Organizational Psychology Society (FIOPS)

FIOPS, our official program-affiliated student organization, serves as the voice of the I/O student body and fosters meaningful connections between faculty and students. FIOPS helps maintain and strengthen the collaborative culture of the program through various necessary initiatives. FIOPS helps students realize their goals and ambitions through professional development opportunities, skill acquisition workshops, and leadership experiences. Specifically, FIOPS supports students by maintaining the student mentor program. This resource pairs incoming students or mentees with an I/O psychology student or mentor who will aid them on their journey through the program. The pairing is made based on the initial preferences of the incoming student. The matched mentor will help position their mentee to achieve their personal goals as well as succeed in the program.

Testimonials from our mentors:

"Having a mentor as a first year was very helpful to me personally and I want to carry that forward. First years have a lot of questions as they are adapting to graduate school and I would love to have the opportunity to help guide a first year and answer any questions they might have."

"I had a great experience  with my peer mentor and think it would be rewarding to help the new students adjust and learn as well."

"It was very important to me to have a mentor during my first year of graduate school. As a 2nd year student now, I feel that I have the ability to become a mentor to other first year students as I now have the experience as well as many tips and tricks to "surviving" your first year of graduate school. I am passionate about our mentor program."

Serving all Florida Tech students and academic units, the SSSC supports Florida Tech’s mission to provide high-quality education to a culturally diverse student body in order to prepare students to enter the global workforce, seek higher-education opportunities, and serve in their communities.

Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR)

Florida Tech is committed to equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in the participation of activities operated and sponsored by the university. Therefore, students with documented disabilities are entitled to reasonable and appropriate educational accommodations, including adjustments to the classroom or testing setting and modifications of housing or living conditions. The OAR supports students by assisting with accommodations, providing recommended interventions, and engaging in case management services.
